Crisis & Mental Health Support
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 anytime, day or night, to connect with a trained crisis counselor for free and confidential support.
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call 1-800-273-8255 for 24-hour support.
- Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health (MACMH): Offers education about children’s mental health and resources for families and professionals.
- Disability Hub MN: A free, statewide resource network that helps people with disabilities and their allies solve problems, navigate the system, and plan for their futures.
- Minnesota Warmline: If you’re struggling with your mental health but aren’t experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, reach out to the Minnesota Warmline. Peer support available 7 days a week, 9 AM to 9 PM. Call 651-288-0400 or 855-WARMLINE, text “Support” to 85511, or start an online chat.

- Housing Benefits 101: Housing Benefits 101 allows you to search for housing by filters including waivers, type of housing (assisted living, ICS, Board and Lodge) and has a map for Coordinated Entry access points to complete an assessment.
- Housing Link: A comprehensive search tool for affordable rental properties in Minnesota.
- Minnesota Shelter Directory: View the directory to find shelter options in your community.
- Metro Shelter Hotline: Call 1-888-234-1329 for crisis shelter placement assistance in the Twin Cities metro area, or visit your county’s website.
- Day One: Connects victims/survivors of domestic violence with services including emergency shelter and safe housing. Call 1-866-223-1111 for the 24/7 Crisis Hotline.
- Help with Housing and Rental Housing: Minnesota options for rental assistance and housing support.
- Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP): Provides funding to organizations that help families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with emergency shelter and financial assistance.
- Crisis Housing Assistance Program: The Crisis Housing Assistance Program provides short-term housing assistance to people with a serious mental illness who are receiving inpatient or residential mental health care or Substance Use Disorder treatment for 90 days or less. You can call 952-915-3698 at any time for assistance.
- Coordinated Entry: The Coordinated Entry System (CES) helps people who are experiencing homelessness get into housing. Coordinated Entry lets you contact one office to get into a system that matches people with housing in many different programs. This makes it easier for you to get connected with a program that can help you find a place to live.

Financial, Legal, & General Assistance
- Minnesota Department of Human Services: Provides information and application instructions for economic assistance, including SNAP (food assistance), cash assistance, and healthcare.
- Bridge to Benefits: A free, confidential online screening tool to find housing, utilities, food, and financial assistance programs you may be eligible for.
- Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS): Provides free, high-quality legal services to low-income people in critical civil matters, including help with housing and public benefits issues.
- United Way 2-1-1: Provides individuals with information on community-based services available in their county, including health, shelter, and food resources.
- MNbenefits: The official state portal to apply for and learn about a wide range of state assistance programs, including cash, food, and emergency help.
- MNsure: Minnesota’s official health insurance marketplace. Apply for Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare and compare private insurance options.
- Health Access MN: Get free, independent help from an insurance navigator to apply for health care and ask questions about your options and choices.
- MN Legal Aid: A non-profit law firm providing free, confidential civil legal services to low-income residents, seniors (60+), and people with disabilities in Minnesota.
- HOME Line: Free legal help for renters.
Recovery & Food Support
- Minnesota Recovery Connection: Offers peer support and peer recovery resources and services for those seeking or sustaining long-term recovery from substance use disorder.
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): Learn about and apply for SNAP (food stamps) and other food and nutrition resources available in Minnesota.
- Second Harvest Heartland Resource Map: A list of food pantries and meal programs in Minnesota.
- Hunger Solutions Find Help Map: A list of food pantries, meal programs, and discounted groceries.
- MN Association of Sober Homes: The Minnesota Association of Sober Homes (MASH) is the state’s nonprofit certifying body for recovery residences. As the Minnesota affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR), MASH is dedicated to promoting high-quality, ethical, and recovery-focused housing across the state.

- NAMI Minnesota: Provides resources for individuals, plus education and support for family and friends of those struggling with mental health.
- Mental Health Minnesota: Offers education, advocacy, and resources for mental health, including support for family and friends.
- Hope for Schizophrenia: Access federal resources and site-specific guidance for caring for a loved one with conditions like schizophrenia or other serious mental illnesses.
- Family Support for Substance Use: Support groups (like Nar-Anon and Al-Anon) for family members and friends of those struggling with substance use disorders.
